After failing to earn a slot from the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival, “Thy Womb” was now included in the official entries.

“Thy Womb” which was directed by Brillante Mendoza and features the Superstar Nora Aunor was acknowledged in the recently held Venice International Film Festival.

This film earned a slot in the list after “Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang” which stars Zsa Zsa Padilla was withdrawn.

Unitel Productions, Inc., the producer of the film “Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang” confirmed it’s decision to withdraw the film, but decline to disclose the reason.

“We would like to reserve this time to hear back from the MMFFP Executive Committee first, in due respect to their authority and the warm reception they have been giving us since we have been chosen to be part of the festival,” Unitel said via statement.

Mendoza was happy with the decision and said: “Nagkaroon na tayo ng chance finally na ipalabas ang ‘Thy Womb’ sa isang malaking venue sa ating sariling bansa!”

“Thy Womb” tells the story of a Badjoa midwife (Aunor) who had been dealing with her own infertility.

This also features stars like Mercedes Cabral and Lovi Poe.
